West Indies team captain Nicholas Pooran confesses: “We didn’t hold our nerves in last couple of overs”

The West Indies team, led by captain Nicholas Pooran, admitted that they lost in the second ODI under pressure from the slog-overs. Axar Patel played well and took the game away from them. Pooran said the batsmen did a great job and Shai Hope was terrific with his century in the second ODI.

The West Indies team admitted that there was too much pressure from the slog-overs.

Winning two wickets on Sunday, India beat West Indies in a three-match series. Aksar Patel’s team defeated the visitors by 64 off 35 balls to help the team score 312. With India leading 178/4, Aksar Paatel became the team’s main player and helped India catch up with the goal with 2 goals remaining. While discussing the result of the match, West Indies captain Nicholas Pooran said that the team could not contain its nervousness in the last couple of overs.

“Definitely, last couple of overs we didn’t hold our nerves. Last 6 overs, we lost the game. We felt a spinner was easier to hit. We just needed one wicket to seal the game but Axar played really well,” Pooran said at the post-match presentation.

Recall that the West Indies team played its first game, and Shai Hope scored one of the best hits of his 100th ODI. In all, Hope scored 115 points and Nicholas Pooran had 74 shots. At the end of the game, these two West Indies players posted a combined score of 311/6. Shardul Thakur had the highest score with 3 wickets. At the conclusion, Pooran expressed his gratitude to the batting team and said they did a great job.

“His (Hope’s) 100th ODI, he was exceptional to get a hundred. We did an exceptional job with the batting group. We tried to compete really hard. We want to win really bad,” he opined.
