Also at the meeting, the IPL’s board of governors (GC) added that for the first time, the IPL was able to fill all six sponsorship slots, of which one title sponsor and five associate sponsors. If this had not happened, there would have been several vacant seats each year.

In addition, the BCCI identified four sites for teams to practice. Cricket teams will be allocated BKC grounds at Bandra Kurla Complex in Mumbai, Brabourne Stadium in South Mumbai, DY Patil ground in Navi Mumbai and MCA ground in Kandivali or Thane.

Due to the epidemiological situation, the option of holding IPL 2022 in Sri Lanka and South Africa was considered. However, IPL chairman Brijesh Patel said that the BCCI has categorically decided to hold the 10-team league on home soil, in India. According to Patel’s statement, the exact number of days and the full schedule will be released soon.

In an interview, Patel said that the 2022 IPL will not take place with empty stands as it did last season. At least 50 percent of the spectators will be present in the stadiums’ stands in accordance with Maharashtra government policy.

A date has also been set for the end of the tournament. It will end on May 29. IPL chairman Brijesh Patel added in an interview that no venue for the playoff has been decided yet, but the option of holding it in Ahmedabad was being considered. Exactly the venue, Patel promises to announce in the near future.
